In support of the District’s mission and goals, the mission of the FCSD Student Support Services Team is to enable all students, regardless of individual differences, to acquire the educational, occupational, and social competencies necessary to become contributing members of our society. In the Fredonia Central School District, school counselors, school psychologists, and the school social worker work collaboratively with students, students’ parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and related-service providers, to meet students’ needs. The Student Support Services Team provides consultation to help students learn and achieve their potential. This team also assists with improving teaching methods and the learning environment of the classroom and home, as well as maintaining positive working relationships between teachers, parents, and administrators. These team members assist with crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and prevention planning. The Student Support Services Team members work to assist students in recognizing and developing their own unique abilities by encouraging an individual approach to educational and career goals, respect for diversity, and the development of effective personal and social relationships. The Comprehensive Counseling Program set forth in this plan is designed to address all students’ needs across grades kindergarten through 12, in accord with the requirements of the New York State Education Department Regulations of the Commissioner of Education (Part 100.2) and the standards set forth by the New York State School Counseling Association (NYSSCA).
