Meet Yost, FCSD’s very first therapy dog! Yost was rescued as a puppy from a shelter in Texas in the autumn of 2020 by Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue in Westfield. In January of 2021 he was adopted by our 6th Grade teacher Tim Wright and his family.
Wanting to pass his good fortunes forward, Yost chose to pursue his Therapy Dog Certification this last spring. Yost found trainer Kaleigh Olson of Shaylah’s Canine Commands in Forestville and began weekly training sessions in July. He went on to achieve his basic obedience certificate, passed his American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen test, and recently completed all the requirements to acquire his Therapy Dog Certification. Yost and his family are very proud of him for achieving this challenging goal! He even sat down with Dr. Z. for a rigorous final interview.
When not working in the District, Yost enjoys daily walks through the village, taking hikes in the countryside, and wrestling with his brother and sister.
We can’t wait to welcome Yost and see all the ways he helps our students and adults. Keep your eyes out for more fun features on our newest member of the #fredoniafamily!
